Power Flush

What is Power Flushing?

Power flushing is when the central heating system is cleansed by specialist power flushing equipment and chemicals to remove scale, sludge and iron oxide to improve system circulation and efficiency:

IT IS COMMON PRACTICE FOR OUR ENGINEERS AS A PRECAUTION TO LAY DOWN DUST SHEETS AND WEAR SHOE COVERS.

The Benefits of Power Flushing

  • Increased boiler and radiator lifespan
  • Improved system efficiency by 40%
  • Reduced gas bills
  • Quicker heat up times
  • Hotter radiators
  • Equal distribution of heat throughout the heating system

The Power Flush Process

Our specialist team uses a custom power-flushing centrifugal pump with heaters, magnetic filters, rad hammers and thermal imaging cameras to provide a comprehensive and more efficient flush. We use techniques and procedures developed over two decades.

For health and safety, our gas engineer will carry out a survey on your central heating system on the morning of arrival and set up a workstation. There are five steps to the power flushing process:

  • Procedure 1 – Dump – We pump clean water at 150 litres a minute through the heating system to push out all the mobilised iron oxide, scale and sludge from the heating system.
  • Procedure 2 – Clean -We add chemicals to the clean heated water to enhance the chemical reaction within the heating system. This circulates through the radiators via flow and return pipes creating a wash motion. This is done individually and methodically throughout the system.
  • Procedure 3 – Neutralise. Here, we repeat procedure 1 by dumping the non-acidic chemical water from the heating system and circulate clean water in the heating system with neutralising crystals to balance the PH Levels.
  • Procedure 4 – Dump. Repeated with specialist techniques.
  • Procedure 5 – Add inhibitor to a pressurised system, bleed and balance.

Symptoms if you Need a Power Flush

  • Heating circulation problems
  • Pump failure
  • Boiler noise
  • System is slow to heat up
  • Cold spots on radiators
  • Partially blocked pipes
